NEW QUALIFICATIONS GIVE NORTH EAST BUSINESS MORE POWER…
January 15th, 2011 by jonathan A Northumberland company has become one of the first in the region to be awarded a specialist qualification, thanks to training through the North East’s leading non profit distributing organisation. Community Energy Solutions, which is helping to drive forward the microrenewable market in the North East, is working with companies across the region to help them take advantage of opportunities available through the growth in this market. And one of the first to do this is Cramlington-based Northburn Solar which is planning to grow the business with the prospect of future jobs, after having achieved the standards required by the MCS (Microgeneration Certification Scheme) for installation of air source heat pumps. |

COMMUNITY INTEREST COMPANY WINS PRESTIGIOUS BUSINESS AWARD

Community Energy Solutions (CES), which has offices in Boldon and Leeds, has won the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Green Business Award 2010 in recognition of its work to deliver energy-efficient and affordable warmth measures to communities across the North East. The Portfolio Business Awards, which were launched by the Sunderland Echo newspaper seven years ago, are designed to recognise and reward businesses across Wearside for their individual successes and wider contribution to the region’s residents and its economy. |

Work to start on £350,000 fuel poverty project
August 17th, 2010 by jonathan A £350,000 project to tackle fuel poverty at more than 300 West Yorkshire homes is about to get underway. The region’s gas distribution company Northern Gas Networks has joined forces with Community interest company Community Energy Solutions (CES), Wakefield and District Housing (WDH) and Wakefield Council to extend the gas network to more than 300 homes that are currently without a gas supply. This is the third major project carried out by Northern Gas Networks and CES and will see a mix of social and private homes in the Flanshaw area of Wakefield connected to the gas network in time for Christmas. |

Community Energy Solutions awards multimillion pound contract to a North East company
June 17th, 2010 by jonathan A County Durham company has beaten off national and international competition to win a multi million pound contract to supply the next generation of energy efficiency measures. Consett-based Romag has been awarded the contract to supply North East-based Community Energy Solutions with Solar Photovoltaic systems – a contract worth up to £10.2m. And that means that Romag can look to move forward expansion plans which could create further employment opportunities. |

CIH Annual Conference

The theme of this years conference is Sustainablilty, with the title “Going Green in Yorkshire and the Humber”. Lee will be drawing on CES’ invaluable experience of working with Housing Associations and Social Landlords to discuss how to involve customers in delivering community energy schemes. North East heating engineers take up renewables training

CES, a non-profit distributing organisation, supported by One North East and the Department of Energy and Climate Change, is providing heating installers with the opportunity to become qualified air source heat pump installers, completely free of charge.
