A leading Community Interest Company, established to tackle fuel poverty and increase energy efficiency in the North East and Yorkshire and the Humber, has been given a prestigious regional business award.
Community Energy Solutions (CES), which has offices in Boldon and Leeds, has won the Sunderland Echo Portfolio Green Business Award 2010 in recognition of its work to deliver energy-efficient and affordable warmth measures to communities across the North East.
The Portfolio Business Awards, which were launched by the Sunderland Echo newspaper seven years ago, are designed to recognise and reward businesses across Wearside for their individual successes and wider contribution to the region’s residents and its economy.
This was the first time the awards have featured a Green Business category, with three companies being shortlisted from dozens of entries to receive site visits from the awards’ independent judging panel.
